Winter tires required: All about safety
In accordance with the recent amendment of the Road Safety Code (Code de la sécurité routière), from December 15 to March 15, motorists will be required to equip their touring vehicles with four winter tires.
Outsmart winter
In Quebec, ground frost may occur as early as October. You may install winter tires when temperature drops to 7ºC without them wearing off prematurely. Four good reasons to use winter tires:
- Up to 25% shorter braking distance*;
- In Quebec, 38% of accidents involve cars that are not equipped with winter tires*;
- Significantly greater traction of tires on road;
- Adequate equipment to face bad weather (frost, ice storm, blizzard)
