UTQG

UTQG stands for Uniform Tire Quality Grading and is the uniform grading system for the quality of tires that provides consumers with three kinds of information: tread wear, grip and temperature.

Tread Wear : Grades usually range from 60 to 700 in increments of 20. They are awarded after tests conducted in controlled conditions on a road designed with government standards. They are used mostly for comparison purposes: a tire with a wear grade of 600 will as a rule wear out twice as slowly as a tire graded 300.

Grip : This grade indicates the ability of a tire to stop a car driving in a straight line on a wet surface. It is set following comparative tests between a standard test tire for the entire industry and the tire whose grip is to be graded. From these results and predetermined coefficients, a grade is designated ranging from AA (for the greatest grip) to A, B then C.

Temperature : The grade ranging from A (highest) to C designates the resistance of a tire to heat build-up and its ability to dissipate this heat during tests conducted in controlled conditions. Grade C corresponds to the minimum performance required by the government. Grades A and B therefore indicate performances above minimum requirements.

Each manufacturer performs its own tests according to standards set by the government, then designates a UTQG grade that appears on the tire. Such grading is used only for comparison purposes; it does not constitute a warranty.

Your UNIPNEU Dealer will tell you which tire is best suited to your needs and will help you compare different models.
